The administration is now ready to present the draft Water Resources Act to the legislature.
Pampha Bhusal, Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, said that preparations are being made to complete the document and present it to parliament for approval of essential legislation to execute the National Water Resources Policy-2077 BS. Minister Bhusal seeks to present the proposal to the cabinet and get it registered in the parliament as soon as possible. Minister Bhusal also stated that the integrated river basin project, which has been identified as a water resources sector projected achievement, is nearing completion.

She said the administration was aware of the importance of water conservation and promotion, speaking at a session marking World Water Day in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

She highlighted the need of focusing on the execution of the policy and program for the
conservation of groundwater resources, while also stating that public awareness should be
considered. ”National Water Resources Policy-2077 has been announced,” she stated. This policy has been enacted, and a draft of the Water Resources Act has been drafted. We’ve reached the end of the process. We’re having a discussion. We will register it with the parliament through the cabinet after it has been finalized. In addition, the Water and Energy Commission is working on an integrated river basin project. Which has been preserved as a projected goal of our 15th Periodic Plan’s water resources sector. We are also quite aware of the need for water conservation and promotion. The most immediate requirement is for it to be implemented positively and for people to be aware of it.

Minister Bhusal further stated that a fight for drinking water should be undertaken.
