By mid-January this year, revenue collection from Tatopani, a significant commercial gateway with China, had exceeded the target. According to Narad Gautam, Customs Officer at Tatopani Customs Office, the revenue of Rs 2.4 billion was received until mid-January. This is 247.17 percent of the objective of Rs. 826.40 million.

Revenue has climbed to Rs. 2.4 billion by mid-July of Fiscal Year 2078/79, against a target of Rs. 1.64 billion. Imports have not been easy, despite the rise in income, according to Chief Gautam. On Monday, he added, only two containers were imported, and on Tuesday, there would be none. He stressed the importance of high-level actions to run the checkpoints.

The checkpoint has been unable to function effectively since the earthquake, flood, and corona pandemic. According to Gautam, imports are minimal and exports are nothing. Readymade clothing, apples, woolen garments, shoes, slippers, walnuts, ladies sandals, double cab pickup vehicles, and handbags are the top ten products that have arrived in Nepal. Before the earthquake, this checkpoint brought in up to Rs 15 million per day in income.
