The Republic of Palau in the southeastern Pacific Ocean has established diplomatic ties with
Nepal and the Philippines. At the same time, Nepal now has 174 nations with which it maintains bilateral diplomatic ties.
Amrit Bahadur Rai, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Ilana Victoria Sed, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Palau to the United Nations, signed the Joint Memorandum of Understanding on Diplomatic Relations at a brief ceremony at Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York on Monday.
According to the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations in New York, the two
nations’ ambassadors also signed a joint letter alerting UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The two ambassadors addressed a variety of subjects of mutual concern in order to promote bilateral cooperation in national and international fora, including at the United Nations, for the mutual benefit of the two nations.
The Republic of Palau became the 185th member of the United Nations on December 15, 1994.
