Minister Jhakri calls on the Asian Development Bank to speed up project development

Kathmandu, March 18

Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhakri has encouraged the government to move through with the Asian Development Bank’s aid proposal (ADB).

Minister Jhakri stated during a meeting with ADB representatives at the ministry on Friday that a lot has to be done in a short amount of time. ”We have a limited amount of time and a lot of work to complete. We want to see as much work as possible completed in a short period of time ”she stated.

Minister Jhakri stated that the National Urban Policy Amendment and Urban Development Act is nearing completion and that it will pave the way for federalism-compliant collaboration in urbanization projects.

During the meeting, Minister Jhakri and ADB representatives addressed existing infrastructure development projects as well as potential areas of investment cooperation in the future days.

Kenichi Yakoyama, an ADB representative stationed in Manila, said the bank was always willing to engage with the ministry and that Nepal should focus on fulfilling its tasks on time.

He proposed that the urbanization project be developed in accordance with the Gujarat
urbanization model. According to Rabindra Bohara, the Ministry’s Joint Secretary and
Spokesperson talks during the program focused on an assessment of the work being done in Nepal with the existing ADB investment and potential areas for future investment
collaboration.
