Kathmandu, March 18
The election commission has made a code of conduct that the people’s representatives at the local level should resign from their post before filing their nomination for contesting in the election.
As per the Election Code of Conduct, 2078 issued on Thursday, sitting representatives are not allowed to become candidates for the upcoming local level elections to be held on May 13.
Election Commission Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said representatives willing to become candidates for the upcoming local level elections have to first resign.
Provision of resignation from the post before filing nomination has been mentioned in section 36 of the code of conduct.
