Urges for precautionary measures to prevent fire incident

The Nepal Police has urged the general public to take precautionary measures to avoid fires
during the dry season.

The Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, in a public notice, noted that disastrous fire
incidents are most likely to occur almost every 100 days from mid-March to mid-June, and
urged the public to take precautionary measures to prevent such incidents and prevent loss if they do occur.

The Nepal Police has also issued 11-point precautionary measures to check potential incidents of fire. Among the measures unveiled are keeping matches, lighter, a gas cylinder, and stove away from children, attentively using them, and keeping the things safely after use.

The Metropolitan Police Range also asked not to use high-voltage electronic goods from the
same power socket and not to leave illumination of incense stick and handmade incense at
prayers’ room and mosquito quill at bedrooms.

The security agency also urged the public to cover the cylinder with a jute sack or blanket if it catches fire, to keep the windows and doors open when using a gas stove, and not to put the forest area in the fire for cattle grazing.

The police have also urged one and all to dial up 100 for the police control room and 101 for fire engine service.
