The Butwal-Narayangarh road, which is now under construction, will have its construction term extended. Due to the poor rate of building, the road will not be completed on time. In the previous three years, just 15% of the development has been accomplished.

According to Ramesh Dishti, chief engineer for the Narayangadh Butwal Road Project’s eastern phase, 90 percent of the road extension work should have been finished by the project’s deadline.

The road’s entire construction cost is Rs. 17 billion. The Asian Development Bank will contribute 85% of the funds, with the remaining being invested by the Nepalese government. The road was built in two stages, beginning with China State Construction and ending with China State Construction. The first package is Narayangarh (Daunne 65 km) and the second is Daunne-Butwal 49 km.

The committee has ordered an inquiry, claiming that they are attempting to impact the
project’s work by providing false information. It is stated that the road’s construction, which began in December 2018, should be completed by August 7, 2023.

According to project head engineer Shakya, the construction business has submitted a letter stating that the project must be completed by 2082. The journey from Butwal to Narayangarh used to take two and a half hours, but now it takes up to six hours, according to travelers. This road handles about 7,000 automobiles every day. In the Nawalpur neighborhood, road development is also in full swing.

The construction of a fast-track road connecting the commercial core of Butwal with the tourist center of Narayangarh has begun. On March 22, 2019, then-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel laid the cornerstone for the road extension at the Butwal Highway interchange.
