Kathmandu, March 11

From Thursday, a three-day Western Travel Mart has been held in Nepalgunj, Banke, under the auspices of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan Municipality.

The mart has been organized to increase tourism activities by promoting tourism in Nepalgunj city and its surrounding areas, as well as Karnali, according to NTB.

Dr. Dhawal Shamsher Rana, Mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan Municipality, said the mart was organized to promote tourism in Nepalgunj and the surrounding areas and expressed confidence that the mart would further establish Nepalgunj in the hospitality field.

Similarly, the CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board Dhananjay Regmi said that as India is the largest market for Nepal, the board has targeted Indian border towns and invited tour operators to the mart.

The NTB has invited about 50 tour operators and media representatives from Lucknow, Delhi, and other bordering Indian cities to participate in the trade show to promote tourism in western Nepal and market it in the Indian market.

At the mart, about 35 tour operators, hoteliers, and tourism service providers have set up stalls to promote the packages. Stalls featuring tourist attractions from all provinces have been set up to promote domestic tourism.

The number of tourist arrivals is expected to increase as the mart’s project promotes tourist destinations and activities in the region.
