The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning of Bagmati has set aside Rs.40 million in the first phase to safeguard the areas hit by the Melamchi and Indrawati floods between June 15 and July 31.

The Ministry has promptly sanctioned Rs. 40 million for the Land and Watershed Conservation Program, which includes 31 programs. Although Rs. 40 million has been provided immediately for 31 projects ranging from Panchpokhari to Dhadkhola, the remaining Rs. 70 million would be awarded and authorized throughout this fiscal year, according to Yubaraj Dulal, former state minister and member of the state legislature.

At the suggestion of state assembly member Dulal, the administration has set up funds to
safeguard flood-affected districts. Dulal stated that in the first phase, work will be carried out from Panchpokhari, Helambu, to Dhadkhola using funds given for the management of the Melamchi and Indrawati rivers and settlement protection.
