Today is the 112th International Women’s Day. In Nepal, many programs are also celebrated.

This year, Nepal has declared a national aim of ”ensuring social justice, gender equality, and sustainable development” in honor of the day.

Every year on March 8, International Women’s Day is commemorated across the world to remember the day in 1910 when women activists raised their voices against labor exploitation and to create women’s rights.

Nepal’s constitution also calls for the abolition of all types of discrimination against women in order to develop a proportionate, inclusive, and equitable society.

Women’s rights have been established as basic rights in the Constitution, which guarantees women equal rights without regard to gender, the right to safe motherhood and reproduction, and equal rights in all issues, including ancestral property.

Women have been given equal representation in all governmental bodies. Any form of violence or exploitation against women is illegal. However, the complete execution of all women’s rights provided by the Constitution of Nepal remains hard.
