Kathmandu, March 7
After the local election, Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has proposed discussing the leaders’ ‘note of dissent’ over the US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project.
Prachanda urged the Maoist Centre’s Central Committee meeting, which began on Friday, to consider the importance of the ‘explanatory notes’ added to the MCC compact during
parliamentary ratification.
Leader Dev Gurung, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, and Giri Raj Mani Pokhrel had already expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s role in MCC ratification, arguing that the act undermined the spirit of the Maoist Centre’s national general convention.
In Monday’s meeting, Chairman Prachanda said that the MCC note of dissent kept by the three was the party’s property and would be kept safe.
