The purchase of 2421 plots of land for the Dudhkoshi Hydropower Project has begun

Kathmandu, March 7

The land acquisition procedure for the 665 MW Dudhkoshi Reservoir Hydropower Project,
which will be built in Rabhunwaghat on the boundary of Okhaldhunga and Khotang, has begun.

The District Administration Office in Okhaldhunga has issued a notice today for the permanent purchase of 2421 plots of land, houses, cowsheds, tents, and trees in five wards of the Chisankhugadhi project-affected region.

Ward Number 1 (Kuibhir VDC of Sabik) has 1149 families, Ward Number 2 (Pokharey VDC of Sabik) has 253 households, Ward Number 3 (Sabik's Diyale VDC) has 600 households, Ward Number 6 (Bhadaure VDC of Sabik) has 371 households, and Ward Number 7 has 48 households (Mamkha VDC of Sabik). The land in the family's name will be acquired.

The land transaction listed in the notice has been halted as of today. Furthermore, no new
constructions shall be constructed on these lands.

If you do not need your land, you have 15 days to file a complaint with the Ministry of Home Affairs via the District Administration Office.

This hydroelectric project was included in the 077/078 BS (2021) budget as a national pride project.

The Asian Development Bank, the European Investment Bank, the Asian Infrastructure
Investment Bank, and the Korean Exim Bank will all contribute to the project, which is expected to cost roughly Rs 200 billion.
