Huawei HarmonyOS-equipped electric vehicle, AITO M5, kicks off retail delivery

AITO M5 made by Chinese carmaker SERES, the first electric vehicle embedded with Huawei’s HarmonyOS, started retail delivery to its buyers on Saturday.

AITO held a ceremony in Shanghai on Saturday to mark the delivery, the company said on its official Weibo account.

The AITO M5 is the first vehicle to feature the HarmonyOS Smart Cockpit, while the HarmonyOS bridges the information gaps between different devices. Vehicles which include the feature can transition from data silos to super terminals that seamlessly communicate among mobile phones, smart homes, and smart wearable devices.

Moreover, the model is being promoted by a Huawei app which is specifically dedicated for smart car scenarios, and users can download third-party applications through the application market and enjoying a variety of apps from the open ecology supported by HarmonyOS.

This first HarmonyOS vehicle was launched on December 23, 2021. Huawei said that the launch of the AITO M5 marks historic transformation of cars from movement to intelligent way of transportation and communications.

“Focusing on the All-Scenario AI Life strategy, Huawei uses its ICT capabilities built over the past 30 years to empower the automotive industry with unparalleled intelligent driving experience. It aims to bring digital experience to every vehicle, helping OEMs improve and sell more vehicles,” Richard Yu Chengdong, Executive Director and CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, said in December at a promotional event.
