Ukrainian officials confirmed that at least 70 soldiers were killed in a Russian artillery strike.
The strike destroyed a Ukrainian military unit, according to Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, the head of the Sumy region’s state administration, and rescuers and volunteers have been working to retrieve the bodies from the rubble.
The Russian army is steadily continuing its advance on Kyiv, with satellite images showing an armored convey that is about 40 miles long.
Earlier on Monday, Russian missile strikes on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, killed
dozens of civilians.
