Kathmandu, February 25

The discussions between the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and the main opposition CPN (UML) leaders reached on a positive note for the agreement on the ratification of the US government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation grant (MCC).

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, as well as other leaders, met on Thursday to discuss MCC ratification, resumption of parliamentary business, and other issues, according to NC general secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa.

It is said Prime Minister Deuba urged the UML leaders not to take the issue of MCC otherwise since his party has stood in a single stance whether the party was in the government or opposition and the MCC was an issue of national importance

Thapa shared that the leaders of the two parties are also scheduled to meet today.
