Top leaders of Congress and UML hold discussions to reach a consensus in MCC

Kathmandu, February 24

After differences within the ruling coalition, Congress has started discussions with the main
opposition party, the CPN-UML, in the hopes of reaching a consensus.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is in discussions with the UML after the House of
Representatives meeting was postponed on Thursday.

Prime Minister Deuba is currently in New Baneshwor, Parliament House, holding talks with
UML Chairman Oli.

The meeting also includes the presence of Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa,
Communications Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, UML Senior Vice President Ishwor
Pokharel, and UML Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader Subash Nemwang.

It is said that Prime Minister Deuba has initiated discussions with the opposition parties to
move the MCC forward after the coalition parties left.

Congress and UML leaders have met several times in this regard. UML has been saying that it will not participate in the parliamentary process until its demands are met.
