The reduced budget size, 86 billion will not be spent

Kathmandu, February 10

The government has reduced the size of the budget through a half-yearly review. Now the size of the budget will be 1.546 trillion 280 million (15 Kharba 46 Arba 28 Crore). The government has revised the budget estimating that Rs 86.55 billion will not be spent from the initial allocation.

Now, the government has set a target of spending Rs 1.035 trillion. Similarly, Rs. 340.32 billion will be spent on capital. Earlier, the target was to spend Rs. 387.10 billion on capital
expenditure.

Now, the government aims to spend Rs. 170.49 billion by revising the budget towards financial management.

This year, the government had brought a budget of Rs 16.32 billion through the replacement bill. By reducing the size of the total allocated budget, the budget has been revised to spend only 94.7 percent of the initial allocation this year.

Announcing the review report, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma said that there was a
problem in Nepal’s budget system. He wants to work by making an action plan for the rest of the period. In this new estimate, election expenses, covid vaccination, and compulsory liability have been kept the same, he said.
