Rescue of stranded Nepali workers in UAE and Saudi

Kathmandu, February 8

The same manpower has rescued eight Nepalis who went to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a visit visa from Triple Star Employment Company in Tokha and brought them to Nepal.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha had instructed to rescue them immediately after the news that they were stranded in the UAE on a visit visa became public.

Rajiv Sunuwar and Gyanendra Ranabhat of Tanahun, Sunil Panth and Ramesh Jung Shah of
Gorkha, Shivaraj Pant of Dadeldhura, Chirayu Sardar of Morang, Zak Bahadur Thapa of Surkhet and Santosh Chaulagain of Sankhuwasabha have returned to Nepal.

Bhim Gurung, a manpower manager, was arrested by a ‘martial team’ formed by the ministry on the basis of a complaint that 12 Nepalis were sent to the UAE at the rate of Rs 750,000 each for employment in a global security company.

Similarly, Ice Rana of Jajarkot, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia some time ago, has been
repatriated today after receiving medical treatment. A team of Nepali embassy staff and labor comrades rescued him and treated him at a local hospital.

Four Nepalis, including Rana, who were stranded in Saudi Arabia, were repatriated on Monday, said Labor Counselor Shatrudhan Pokharel.
