Amid rising tensions between Russia and NATO over Ukraine, French President Emmanuel
Macron is meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Macro left Russia on Monday amid a war in Eastern Europe. According to international media reports, Macro and Putin, who are on a visit to Russia, will discuss the Ukraine crisis in Moscow.
Talks between Macro and Putin are under way as efforts to reduce tensions between Ukraine and Russia in the West continue through diplomacy. Prior to his departure from Moscow, Macro had said that a possible war in Ukraine could be averted.
Macro will leave for Ukraine on Tuesday after holding talks with Putin in Moscow. He will also discuss with both sides about the peace proposal that could not be moved forward during his last visit.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Soles is meeting with US President Joe Biden today. ”We worked hard to send a clear message to Russia that an attack on Ukraine would come at a high price,” Souls told the Washington Post before meeting with Biden.
Chancellor Soles is scheduled to hold talks with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr
Zelensky next week on the ongoing tensions in Eastern Europe.
