Minister of Labor going to UAE for management of homeless Nepalis

Kathmandu, February 7

The government is engaged in the management of Nepalis who have arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on ‘visit visa’ in search of employment.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha is going to the UAE next year representing the government for the management of Nepalis stranded in the UAE.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Minister Shrestha is going to the UAE to discuss with the
UAE government about the management of Nepalis stranded in the UAE on visits and other
visas due to the temptation of foreign employment. The date and time of going to UAE has not been disclosed.

On Sunday, Minister Shrestha had a discussion with the Ambassador of Nepal to the UAE (UAE) Saeed Hamdan Al Naki on how to bring the organization or person who has left Nepali citizens stranded in the UAE under the ambit of action and how the victims can be given justice.

During the discussion, he requested Ambassador Said to help solve the problems of Nepalis
stranded in the UAE for employment.

Minister Shrestha said that assistance was expected from the UAE government in providing
employment opportunities to the stranded Nepalis in the UAE, paying more fees after
expiration of visa or granting amnesty to those who were forced to stay illegally and
repatriating those rescued.

Minister Shrestha said that assistance was expected from the UAE government to bring
justice to those involved in making fake demands, false assurances and the temptation of
employment.

During the discussion, Ambassador Saeed said that necessary assistance would be provided to the stranded Nepalis in the UAE to provide employment and rescue.

A meeting of the Nepal-UAE Joint Committee will also be organized during Minister Shrestha’s visit to the UAE.
