Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday called for development of new driving forces through informatization, to promote new development and therefore make new achievements.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in a congratulatory letter sent to the first Digital China Summit, which opened Sunday in Fuzhou, provincial capital of east China’s Fujian Province.
In his message, Xi highlighted the importance of innovation in information technology and called for a faster construction of a “digital China”.
The summit, with the theme “Let Informatization Drive Modernization, Speed Up the Construction of Digital China”, will conclude on April 24.
