Inspector Sanukancha Ramtel, working at the Lalitpur branch of the metropolitan crime branch, has been dragged into the investigation on the charge of mediating the theft case. He was removed from the responsibility of Lalitpur branch and transferred to Baneshwor branch, said SSP Basanta Kunwar.
The theft took place a few days ago at a gold shop run by Sujan Baraili in Godavari of Lalitpur. It is learned that instead of handing over the case to Lalitpur Metropolitan Police Station, Ramtel has settled the incident by arresting the accused involved in the theft. AIG Hari Bahadur Pal of the Metropolitan Police Office had instructed to investigate after receiving information that the accused involved in the theft had reached a compromise by paying gold.
A committee headed by DSP Durgaraj Regmi has been formed to probe into the incident.
Inspector Kiran Neupane is a member of the committee.
“It simply came to our notice then that the gold was stolen and the victim was paid. If found guilty, action will be taken on the basis of the investigation report,” said SSP Kunwar. In Lalitpur, Inspector Keshav Bahrakoti has been sent to replace Ramtel.
