Due to the epidemic, the number of air passengers started decreasing

Kathmandu, January 24

With the spread of the third variant of the corona virus, the number of air passengers has
begun to decline. At the same time, the airlines are slashing the number of flights and air fares.

According to the Tribhuvan Airport Office, the number of flights has been reduced by 10
percent this week.

Buddha Air, which operates more than 70 flights daily, has scheduled only 64 flights for
Monday. Even so, the airline has scheduled only 22 flights on Monday. Even Saurya, Shree
Airlines and Gun Airlines have reduced the number of flights compared to Savik.

According to Sudarshan Bartaula, spokesperson of Yati Airlines, most of the passengers have left their homes. Due to which the number has decreased. This has reduced the number of passengers, especially for traveling purposes. On the other hand, the number of passengers has decreased in the Terai region as compared to Savik due to the flight being disrupted due to heavy fog.

Dipendra Karna, communications officer of Buddha Air, said that great care has been taken to ensure that the passengers do not miss the corona through the ship.

”As the destination is reached in a short period of time and all the passengers and staff follow the mandatory corona standards, the possibility of moving the corona during the journey is very low,” he said.

Employees safe

According to the airlines, even though they have to work in a crowded place with more people, this time the infection has not spread among the employees due to the transition affecting the service operations.

Buddha Air’s communications officer Karna said that there was no infection among the
employees as all the employees were given booster doses and the standards including face
shield were followed.

”Apart from the sporadic staff, the transition has not spread to any of the airlines,” he said.
