Kathmandu, January 23
The main opposition CPN-UML has termed the government as irresponsible and ineffective in the third wave of the Corona epidemic.
In a statement issued on Sunday, UML chairperson KP Sharma Oli said that the government has become irresponsible even though the new wave has affected people’s lives. Saying that the government officials have admitted that more than 2.4 million vaccines have been lost, UML Chairman Oli said, ”Where did so many vaccines go?” Who hide or sold? Who is responsible for this? ‘
”Thousands of people are still deprived of vaccines,” he said.
Vaccine card must be ridiculous
UML has said that making vaccine card mandatory for public service use is a ridiculous and
discriminatory step. The UML claims that only 40 percent of the people have been vaccinated so far after the government announced that two-thirds of the population has been vaccinated by mid-Poush.
Stating that the government is incapable of supplying, managing and storing the vaccines
provided by the previous government, UML Chairman Oli said that the government has taken ridiculous and discriminatory steps to make the vaccine card mandatory for public service use even when the citizens are not able to get adequate vaccination.
Protest against budget cuts
UML has accused the government of playing games on public health by cutting the budget of health sector for no reason. According to UML Chairman Oli, the previous government under his leadership had initiated the construction of 396 basic hospitals at the local level and the current government has cut Rs 1.5 billion out of the Rs 6.15 billion budget allocated for it.
