Entrepreneurs said: Business should be allowed to operate by fulfilling health standards

Kathmandu, January 21

In the wake of the Corona epidemic, businesses have demanded that the government allow
businesses to operate in a way that meets health standards.

Entrepreneurs in various professions have demanded that the government should facilitate
them to conduct business with Corona, saying that the government has been conducting
lockouts in the past due to the dire situation of Corona and this has had a huge impact on the economy.

Nilhari Bastola, a tourism entrepreneur, said that the government should be more inclusive in complying with the rules rather than closing down other areas of business including tourism business during the crisis. He demanded that the government provide concessional loans at such times to allow businesses to operate in compliance with health standards.

Entrepreneur Bastola said that entrepreneurs should not work based on just one profession. He said that if the state does not give confidence, the workers and businessmen will flee from their profession.

Entrepreneur Bastola said, ”The state should be able to make a rule that everyone can abide by.” If it collapses again, the economic situation will deteriorate. There is a negative impact on the economy. It is not a matter of lockdown, it is a matter of allowing people to work according to the rules. ‘

Similarly, spokesperson of Yeti Airlines Sudarshan Bartaula said that the decision to allow
people to board the plane only after looking at the vaccine card was impractical. He said the government had made the decision only for the sake of decision, adding that it could not be implemented in practice.

He said the government’s decision was difficult to implement as not all children had been
vaccinated against corona and not enough people in Nepal had been vaccinated.

Spokesperson Bartaula said that the government should correct such decisions and create a conducive working environment.

‘So far, only 35-40 percent of Nepalis have been vaccinated. Will the remaining 65 percent be able to board the ship or not? That is also the case. Another thing is that those under 18 years of age have not been vaccinated. Allow children to climb or not? If you want to implement it, you have to implement it well, but it is impractical to do it only for the sake of decision. Spokesperson Bartaula said, ”What is the record keeping system after looking at the card at the airport?” That card has no cord numbers, no numberings, based on that number we let go. If tomorrow someone comes to see if the vaccinated person has gone or not, there is no evidence we can show. So that doesn’t seem to be the case. ‘

Similarly, Vice President of the Hotel Association Binayak Shah said that the directive issued by the government was only about control but there was no strategy to move the economy
forward with Corona. He said the government had not taken any initiative to boost the
economy by issuing directives this year as in the past. Saying that attention should also be paid to sustainable business, Vice President Shah said that economic activities should also be made dynamic.

Vice President Shah said, ”It is okay to follow health standards and control when there is such a big infection, but at the same time, how to take management measures?” The government has not looked into how to sustain the business. We did not know how to run the economy. It was the same in 2020 and still is. ‘

Vice President Shah said that the government should take the economic sector together
without ignoring it. He said that the national policy should come in a coordinated manner on how to conduct economic activities. At present, the country is only revolving around politics. The economic sector should also be looked at vigorously. For that, the government should move forward with the help of the private sector. The economic sector has not been ignored.’
