Meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the ruling coalition is being held today

A meeting of the high-level political coordination committee of the ruling coalition is being held today. The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence Baluwatar at 4 pm today. Communications Minister Gyanendra Karki informed that a meeting will be held to discuss the upcoming election.

The coalition is debating whether to hold local elections or federal elections first. Prime
Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is in favor of holding local elections in Baishakh, while CPN
(Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Nepal are emphasizing on holding the federal elections ahead.

The meeting of the coordination committee convened on Thursday was postponed due to
disagreement among the top leaders. After the meeting was postponed, a meeting was held between Prime Minister Deuba, Prachanda and Madhav Nepal on Thursday evening. A meeting of the coordination committee was called at 4 pm after the meeting.

According to Prachanda’s personal secretary Ramesh Malla, the meeting will discuss current
political issues including the election.
