Bad weather affects domestic flights, 8 airports blocked

Bad weather has affected domestic flights. Three airports in the Terai region and five in the
Himalayan region have not been able to open due to heavy fog and snowfall since Thursday
morning.

According to Tribhuvan Airport, Biratnagar Airport, Bharatpur Airport and Bhairahawa Airport have not been able to open yet due to bad weather.

Meanwhile, Simara Airport was reopened with the gradual improvement in the weather, said Tek Nath Sitaula, spokesperson of Tribhuvan Airport. Similarly, flights to Lukla, Phaplu, Simikot, Dolpa and Rara have been affected due to snowfall. The airport says that there is a problem in the flight as the visibility of these areas is less than one thousand meters. Visibility of at least 1600 to 2000 meters is required for smooth flight.

The condition of Kathmandu is fine while the condition of Janakpur, Nepalgunj, Chandrapur,
Surkhet, Pokhara and Tumlintar airports is normal, said spokesperson Sitaula. About two dozen flights to and from the affected destinations may have been affected so far, he said.

On the other hand, there are no problems with international flights so far, said spokesperson Sitaula.
