There are no immediate signs of an end to Covid: WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) says there are no signs of an end to covid infection. The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that the number of new infections in France,
Germany, Brazil and other countries is breaking records. The highly infected new variant of
Covid, Omicron, has covered the world and governments of various countries are taking
restrictive measures. Most countries have started giving booster doses against covid.

“There is no sign of an end to this epidemic,” said WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at an event in Zheweva.

Lately, Europe has become the main focal point of the epidemic. In France, 500,000 people
were infected on the same day on Tuesday, while in Germany, 100,000 people have been
infected in the last 24 hours. Infection rates have risen sharply in other European countries as well.

Ghebreyesus told Omicron not to make a general assessment, saying the epidemic, first seen in South Africa in November, had spread from Latin America to Eastern Europe. “On average, Omicron may be less lethal, but its ability to spread is faster,” he said.
