Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to hold talks with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi in Moscow next week. Russian broadcaster Russia-1 informed about the meeting between the two leaders. This will be the first official talks between the two leaders since Raisi was sworn in as Iran’s president in August 2020.
At a news conference in early December, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had invited the new Iranian president to visit Moscow in January 2022. They had a telephone conversation last November. The two leaders will discuss strengthening bilateral diplomatic relations between Russia and Iran, as well as security issues in the Gulf region, Syria and other Middle Eastern countries.
