Nepal Tourism Board CEO Dhananjay Regmi is involved in gold smuggling case. It has been
revealed that he was arrested with gold when he arrived in Nepal on Poush 7, 2074 BS on a
Qatar Airlines flight. During the investigation conducted by the Tourism Board, it was revealed that he had brought 3 biscuit-sized gold bars when he came to Nepal from Qatar Airlines flight number QR730 and was arrested after finding 30 grams of illegal in it.
The case was registered by the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office on Poush 7, 2074. The court had ruled on Bhadra 21, 2077. He was found guilty in the case and fined Rs. 140,685 including confiscation of gold.
The Ministry of Tourism has written to the Airport Customs Office seeking information about
Regmi. The letter written by the customs to the ministry on Poush 30 was made public on
Sunday. Regmi has not yet commented on the matter.
