After Bimal Gharti Magar scored two goals and provided an assist, league leader Machhindra FC defeated Brigade Boys Club 4-0 in the Shaheed Smarak A Division League on Sunday.
This victory has given the previous winner Machhindra a clear lead of 4 points over the second place Manang Marsyangdi and has strengthened the title race. Machhindra has 23 points from 9 games. Manang has 19 points from the same game. The brigade, which suffered its fifth defeat, is only one point away from the relegation zone and is in 12th position with six points.
In the same game, Machhindra’s two players Abhishek Rijal and Rejin Subba also opened the scoring in the league. This is Regin’s first game in the league this season.
In the match played at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor, the brigade held Machhindra to a goalless draw in the first half. Brigade goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh made some good saves but Machhindra could not score in the first half.
But Bimal became the hero in the second half. He scored in the 56th and 62nd minutes to give Machhindra a 2-0 lead. After scoring two goals against Brigade, Bimal has scored three goals in the league.
Then in the 84th minute, Resin increased Machhindra’s lead by scoring a goal in Vimal’s cross. In the second goal of Vimal, it was Rejin who helped.
Machindra did not stop there. After Abhishek scored a goal in injury time, Machhindra easily
won. The brigade, which looked strong in defense in the first half, was helpless in the second half against Machhindra.
