Tianjin Port breaks global record for berth timing efficiency despite Omicron outbreak

Despite the latest Omicron variant outbreak in North China’s Tianjin Municipality, Tianjin Port achieved a new global record for berth time efficiency among the three Mediterranean lines belonging to the major international shipping alliance – 2M Alliance, Tianjin Port Group told the Global Times on Sunday.

According to a statement sent to the Global Times by Tianjin Port Group on Sunday, a Maersk Hamburg container ship sailed smoothly from Tianjin Port Pacific International Container Terminal at 8 pm on Saturday, 24 hours earlier than the original scheduled time.

Tianjin Port has achieved a world leading operational efficiency of 35.2 units per hour for key operational lines for containers, pushing the efficiency of ships at berth to exceed 262 units per hour.

Meanwhile, six broadcast vehicles to be used during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics were successfully unloaded in Tianjin port Saturday, which are from the Olympic Broadcasting Services and will be transferred to venues in Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province and Yanqing county in Beijing.

Tianjin Port has been observing strict coronavirus prevention and control measures while continuously working on improving the efficiency for the arrival and departure of international container ships.
