Within six months of the split, the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has seen serious controversy. Disagreement between JSP Federal Council Chairman Baburam Bhattarai and Executive Committee Chairman Upendra Yadav has clearly divided the party into two factions. Pro-Bhattarai leaders have demanded that he be made the chairman of the executive committee with executive powers and that Ashok Rai be made the chairman of the federal council.
After Mahanta Thakur split from the JSP and formed the Loktantrik Socialist Party (LSP), there is a vacancy in the post of executive chairman of the Janata Samajwadi Party. Proponents of her case have been working to make the actual transcript of this statement available online. There is a provision in the JSP constitution that there will be two executive chairpersons. Pro-Yadav leaders, on the other hand, have argued that JSP should be shifted to a single chairperson system.
Pro-Bhattarai leaders are dissatisfied as Yadav has all the executive powers. Leaders of
Bhattarai’s party have accused Yadav of making the decision alone while selecting candidates for the party’s ministerial and national assembly seats.
