Kathmandu, January 16
The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has formed a seven-member high-level
committee under the coordination of its chief patron Shesh Ghale to take the election program forward.
The 81st meeting of the ICC on Saturday decided to form a committee saying that all the issues related to the tenth general convention of the association and the ICC election will be resolved in a fair and impartial manner.
The members of the high-level committee are founding chairman Dr Upendra Mahato, patrons Devman Hirachan, Jiva Lamichhane, Bhawan Bhatt, Ram Pratap Thapa and current chairman Kumar Pant.
In order to hold the tenth general convention and fair elections by February 28, the committee has agreed to provide the final list of delegates to the election committee through the chairperson of the International Coordinating Council by January 26, subject to the constitution and rules of the association.
The High-Level Committee has the right to form independent committees consisting of legal, IT and other experts if required. There are indications that there will be a breakthrough within the NRNA after the executive director of the association and the NRNA secretariat decided to support the committee.
The tenth general convention of the Union, which was supposed to be held last October, and the election of the General Convention have been stopped time and again due to the
controversy.
