Kathmandu, January 16
Nepali team has left for Kabul carrying humanitarian aid materials for Afghanistan. A team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has left for Kabul on a Himalayan Airlines flight with medicines, clothes and utensils.
Before leaving for Kabul, Foreign Minister Dr. Narayan Khadka addressed a press conference at Tribhuvan International Airport. Narayan Khadka informed that the relief materials would be handed over to the UN delegation by Seva Lamsal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry. Minister Khadka also said that the Nepali team would return home today after handing over the supplies to the UN office.
According to Minister Khadka, according to the list provided by the United Nations, the aid
materials include medicine, cloths and utensils. Minister Khadka informed that the non-food
items are about 14 tons.
Minister Khadka said that for the first time in the history of Nepal, humanitarian aid was being sent by air to other countries for assistance. The message will not go away. ‘
Minister Khadka informed that all the materials have been provided free of cost by the
businessmen without any obligation to the government. Minister Khadka also said that
Himalayan Airlines had provided free chartered flights to deliver the goods to Afghanistan.
He mentioned that the United Nations, Consul General, Nepalese industrialists, businessmen, Himalayan Airlines, Nepal Oil Corporation and others have been very supportive in this work.
The Taliban has been in control of Afghanistan since the US-led invasion. News of a major
humanitarian crisis has surfaced in Afghanistan since the Taliban took control.
