Government not in favor of lockdown: Health Minister

Health and Population Minister Birodh Khatiwada has said that the government is not in favor of locking up. Speaking at a program organized at Kirtipur Hospital on Thursday, Health Minister Khatiwada said that even after listening to the voices of other countries, they would do it only after looking at the required places.

He said that the previous lockdown had affected the economic, social and educational sectors of the country, adding that the government would not go for the solution of the lockdown now. He said that there was no need to worry that the government was working with special preparations in the health sector.

He said, “Now we are not in favor of panic and drunkenness. We will do it only by considering the need and putting that idea in a special place. We don’t go to lockdown easily. We can customize the place as per the need. Therefore, there is no need to panic about immediate lockdown. Although we may not be able to deal with the disease as much as possible, we have provided isolation wards, ICUs, oxygen, equipment two to three times more than at the time of the first variant.”

He urged the general public to use masks and sanitizers to avoid the third variant of the Corona. He also urged to stay safe by vaccinating against covid.

Experts said that it would be easier to avoid the third variant after applying booster dose,
adding that booster dose has been provided to those working in the front line from the first
week of next January. He said a booster dose of corona would be made available to citizens in the age group of 60 years in the second week of Magh and to the general public from the third or fourth week.
