Demand to investigate the assets of all judges

The agitation has been going on for two and a half months demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JBR. Demonstrations at the Supreme Court premises have called for an investigation into the assets of judges following the resignation of Chief Justice JBR. Law practitioners, who have previously demanded JBR’s resignation as a one-point agenda, have called for a probe into the assets of all judges to reform the judiciary.

Advocate Kirti Nath Sharma Poudel said that the agitation of legal practitioners was taking place in the court to give impetus to the protest. Advocate Sharma said that the agitation would continue till the resignation of Chief Justice JBR. He said, “Our movement is against the distortion and inconsistency seen in the court. That means there should be cleanliness and transparency in the courts. Our movement is indefinite in the future. Until Chief Justice Jabbar resigns, the movement will continue. The Nepal Bar has agitated to speed up the court and ensure justice.”

Speaking on the occasion, advocate Ram Chandra Simkhada said that the movement had
helped in introducing round robin in courts across the country. He also said that there was a movement to discourage corruption and anomalies in the judiciary.

Claiming that the Nepal Bar movement has achieved some results, advocate Simkhada said that there is a demand to investigate the assets of the judges inside the court.
