Mayor Bista elected as UML’s Kanchanpur district chairman along with the panel

Kathmandu, January 13

Surendra Bista has been elected as the CPN-UML’s Kanchanpur district chairman along with the panel. He defeated Bir Bahadur Thapa, who is also the incumbent chairman, from the unity process.

Bista is also the mayor of Bhim Dutta Municipality of Kanchanpur. Out of the total 470 votes
cast, Bisht got 281 votes and Thapa got 183 votes, according to the Election Committee.
Laxmi Budha of Bisht Panel won the election with 254 votes while her rival Mahesh Prasad Pant got 205 votes.

Pallabaraj Bhatt won with 233 votes. His opponent Ashok Chand got 226 votes. According to the Election Committee, Karna Bahadur Chand won with 347 votes and Phairu Tamang with 296 votes.

Voting was held in Kanchanpur on Tuesday after a failed attempt to elect a new leadership.
