Warning to cancel the affiliation of the medical college which charges more than the prescribed fee

Kathmandu, January 6

The government has warned medical colleges that charge more than the prescribed amount to cancel the affiliation.

Stating that it has received complaints from the Medical Education Commission for charging
more than the stipulated fee, the ministry has warned to cancel the affiliation of medical
colleges which have repeatedly disobeyed the directive.

A statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Deepak Sharma, on
Wednesday said, Article 14 (a) of the National Medical Education Act, 2075 states that the affiliation will be terminated if the fee is exceeded.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel informed that the Ministry of Education and Home Affairs has instructed the concerned universities not to take more than the prescribed fee and to take action as per the prevailing law.

Fees for medical education, including MBBS, are mentioned in Article 18 of the National
Medical Education Act, 2075.

The ministry and the commission have urged the students not to pay more than the prescribed fee but the medical colleges have been depriving the students from taking the exam if they do not pay more.
