Prachanda elected unopposed as CPN-Maoist Centre chairman

CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has been elected unopposed. Central Member Himal Sharma informed that Prachanda was elected unopposed as the chairperson from the first meeting of the Central Committee held at the Heritage Garden at Sanepa Heights in Lalitpur this afternoon.

Leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha and support leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara had proposed
Prachanda to be elected as the party president. The proposal of Leader Shrestha and the
support of Leader Mahara were unanimously approved by the members of the Central
Committee. After being elected unopposed as the chairperson, Prachanda is addressing the
Central Committee meeting.

A meeting of the Maoist Central Committee is underway with the swearing in of the newly
elected central members. The meeting will decide on the office bearers other than the
chairperson. The Maoists have one chairman, one senior vice-chairman, six vice-chairmen, one general secretary, two deputy general secretaries, three secretaries and one treasurer.
