UML is preparing to field candidates for 19 seats in the National Assembly

CPN-UML has decided to field candidates in 19 seats in the upcoming National Assembly
election on Magh 20. The Election Commission (EC) is holding elections in 19 out of 20 seats of the National Assembly which will be vacant from Falgun 20. For that, the Election Commission has fixed the time to nominate the candidates on Poush 20, i.e., Tuesday.

CPN-UML central office secretary Bhishma Raj Adhikari said that they would contest in 19 seats.“UML will contest in all the 19 seats,” the official said. According to the UML leaders,
discussions are underway among the top leaders at the Tulsilal Amatya Pratisthan to decide on the candidates as per the decision of the UML Central Secretariat to field candidates in 19 seats. After the discussion, it will be decided who will be the candidate.

The five-party ruling coalition has allotted seats for the National Assembly election on Monday alone. Among them, the Nepali Congress has fielded six candidates, the CPN-Maoist Center and the CPN-Unified Socialist Party five each, the Janata Samajwadi Party two and the Rastriya Janamorcha one. It seems that it will be difficult for the UML to win the election if there is an alliance in all the provinces.

Out of the 19 vacancies, only UML has 8 seats at present. Apart from the UML, four seats each from the CPN (Maoist Centre) and Unified Socialists, three from the Nepali Congress and one nominated MP are also becoming vacant. It is seen that it will be difficult for the UML to secure those seats only if there is an alliance.
