Congress prepares to elect National Assembly candidate

Nepali Congress has convened a meeting of the Central Committee to select the National Assembly candidate. A meeting will be held at the party office in Sanepa on Monday at 2 pm to select the National Assembly candidate. Earlier, a meeting of the ruling coalition will be held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.

Candidate registration is scheduled for Poush 20 for the National Assembly election. Congress has also started internal preparations to select a candidate. Twenty members of the National Assembly, who have completed their four-year term from next Falgun, are leaving.

Eight MPs from UML, four from CPN (Maoist Center), four from CPN-Unified Socialist Party, three from NC and one nominated MP are on leave. Elections are being held in all the seven states on Magh 12 from 9 am to 3 pm for 19 seats except for one seat to be nominated by the President.

The ruling coalition parties are preparing to go to the polls by forming an alliance with Congress, Maoists and Unified Socialists.
