This year, Bara has produced 6,352 metric tons more paddy than last year.
With the timely activation of monsoon, 2,914 hectares more area was sown this year as
compared to last year and 6,352 metric tons more paddy was produced.
According to Agriculture Knowledge Center Bara, 262,741.25 metric tons of paddy has been produced in the current fiscal year. Last year, the production of paddy was 256,389.25 metric tons.
Out of the paddy produced in the current fiscal year, Aghani yielded 141,577.25 metric tons, Bhadaiya 51,191.5 metric tons and Chaite paddy 69,972.05 metric tons, said Genalal Mandal, an agronomist at the Center.
According to him, in the current fiscal year, paddy was cultivated in a total area of 61,125
hectares including 34,112 hectares in Aghani, 11,905 hectares in Bhadaiya and 15,105 hectares in Chaite.
In the last fiscal year, Aghani produced 145,201.25 metric tonnes, Bhadaiya 54,882.06 metric tons and Chaite paddy 53,306 metric tons. For this, Aghani has been planted in an area of 14 thousand 165 hectares, Bhadaiya 11 thousand 931 hectares and Chaite 12 thousand 115 hectares, said the Agricultural Experts Board of the Center.
Bara has a total of 69 thousand 963 hectares of arable land. Out of them, 995 hectares are
cultivated in the Chure Hills and 61 thousand 818 in the Terai.
Of them, 7,140 hectares of land is barren, 33,132 hectares are irrigated throughout the year and 29,691 hectares are partially irrigated.
