China’s National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration announced on Thursday it will further enhance the country’s food security by tightening market trading supervision and building a sophisticated food reserve system.
During a work meeting held on December 28, officials of the administration looked back the achievements have made in 2021 and issued a working plan for the next year.
The meeting stressed the importance of supervision on the grain market in its multiple areas of production, purchase, storage, transport, process and retail.
On December 26, the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee vowed to maintain a stable grain output exceeding 1.3 trillion jin (650 billion kilograms) in 2022, a level China has maintained for six years.
Officials also announced on the meeting the creation of a strategic food storage system that can match China’s superpower status.
