Discussion on election security in the meeting of the Central Security Committee

A meeting of the Central Security Committee chaired by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khan has
reviewed and analyzed the overall peace and order of the country including election security of
National Assembly members.

Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Tek Narayan Pandey informed that the security
arrangements for the upcoming National Assembly election were discussed at a meeting of the
committee held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday.

Election of National Assembly members is being held on January 26 for 19 member posts. Eight
polling stations and 14 polling booths have been identified in different states of the country for
the election. Spokesperson of the Ministry Pradip Koirala informed that discussions were held
on how to make security arrangements targeting the National Assembly elections and the
upcoming local elections.

He said that a meeting of the committee was held to manage the multi-faceted aspect of
security and to make security arrangements in preparation for the election. Secretary at the
Ministry of Defense Begendra Sharma Poudyal, Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs
Pandey, Rathi Balkrishna Karki of the Nepal Army, Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailesh
Thapa Chhetri, Inspector General of the Armed Police Force Nepal Shailendra Khanal, Chief of
the National Investigation Department Ganesh Prasad Adhikari, Chief Joint Secretary of the
Ministry of Peace and Security Home Spokesperson Koirala and others were present.
