The CPN (Maoist Center) has finalized the number of office bearers. A meeting of the Central Committee held on Sunday decided to have 15 members.
Friday’s meeting proposed a 15-member Central Committee. Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara informed that the same proposal was approved by the Central Committee meeting held on Sunday. According to him, a 299-member central committee with 15 office bearers will now be elected.
For the last time, the Maoists are also going for a multi-party system. As per the constitution passed by the Central Committee meeting, the party will have one chairman, one senior vice-chairman, six vice-chairmen, one general secretary, two deputy general secretaries, three secretaries and one treasurer. Earlier, the Maoists had named the first national conference and decided to turn it into a general convention only on Saturday.
The General Convention is scheduled to be inaugurated at Pragya Pratisthan at 3 pm today.
Delegates from the district have already arrived in Kathmandu for the convention. Provision has been made for one thousand 631 delegates including nominees.
