In the northern Chinese city of Xian, corona infections have been on the rise. More than
13 million people in Xian have been instructed to stay indoors.
As of December 9, 143 new cases had been reported in Xi'an. The new restriction,
announced only yesterday, allows only one person from a household to go out every
two days to buy essentials.
China has been working hard to reduce the outbreak of corona in China. China has a
zero-sum strategy. The corona is usually tested and locked down, targeting the affected
area.
As China prepares to host the Winter Olympics in February 2022, high vigilance has
been adopted. Xian residents have been barred from leaving the city.
In case of having to go out of the city, the concerned authorities have to give approval.
Lockdown will start from midnight today. As there is no time limit for lockdown, the
concerned officials will inform when the end of the lockdown will take place.
In China, 113,000 people have been infected so far and 4,849 people have died from
the infection.
