China’s leading technology company Huawei launched a smart car innovation center in Suzhou, East China’s Jiangsu Province on Tuesday.
The innovation center, the Huawei Suzhou Research Institute, will be mainly open to its automotive customers and partners for joint development, testing, verification and demonstration, Wang Jun, president of Huawei’s intelligent driving solutions product unit, said at the 2021 Huawei Smart Car Solutions Ecological Forum on Tuesday.
The innovation Center covers a total area of 2,000 square meters and includes 9 laboratories that focus on Mobile Data Center (MDC), sensor fusion, voice, vision, acoustics, smart cockpit, on-board network and vehicle control and has recruited more than 100 engineers to support innovation, new products testing and validation, according to the company.
A testing area for connected vehicles located near the Suzhou center will also be put in to use next year.
Huawei will provide technical training and laboratory equipment for partners and promote joint innovation of intelligent vehicles on the basis of openness and win-win cooperation, according to the company.
The first Huawei-powered smart car hit the market in April. In the past year, Huawei has developed about 300 partners across the smart car sector, which is growing faster than expected, Wang said.
At the forum, Huawei also unveiled a vehicle wireless short-distance transmission technology. Compared with Bluetooth and WiFi wireless connection, the technology has the advantage of ultra-low delay, ultra-reliability and precise synchronization which can be applied in sound signal transmission, wireless screen projection, multi-camera transmission and wireless battery management systems (BMS).
