Market regulator in E. China’s Ningbo seizes $737,600 of fake clothing products

Local market regulator in Ningbo, East China’s Zhejiang Province, has seized more than 4.7 million yuan ($737,600) worth of counterfeit clothing items, including popular high-end brands like Canada Goose, The North Face and Burberry, according to media reports on Tuesday.

The paper.cn reported on Tuesday that more than 31,000 pieces of various counterfeit brand garments were seized in three cases, and the total value of the confiscated products involved exceeded more than 4.7 million yuan, which have been transferred to local police for further investigation.

According to the media reports, the market regulator in Ningbo was notified by local residents that three online retail stores were suspected to sell fake clothing products. The products sold in online stores were tagged way lower than the official prices, with a down jacket from Canada Goose only retailing for 300 yuan.

The store owners admitted for selling counterfeit goods during official on-site inspection and the fake clothing items were confiscated.
