The third season of food documentary Once Upon A Bite, the latest work by Chinese directors Chen Xiaoqing and Li Yong, debuted on Chinese streaming site Tencent Video on Sunday.
Chen, known to Chinese audiences for his sensational documentary A Bite of China, has chosen this season to focus on how people living along China’s vast coastline make a living by the sea. Seafood has been a running theme throughout the eight-episode documentary series.
Besides introducing delicious food, the series also focus on the stories behind these dishes as local people work hard to feed their families.
“Our understanding of food is gradually deepening, and we will gradually feel the difference as our cognition changes. I think food is full of uncertainty, but it is precisely because of this uncertainty that we will pay more attention to the charm of food itself,” Chen told media at a preview event.
